Super Mario Party Jamboree how to unlock characters is a short exploration task rather than a long campaign requirement. The game begins with 20 of its 22 playable characters available, leaving only Pauline and Ninji to recruit. Neither character requires a high rank, a difficult minigame score, or a special currency purchase.

The fastest method is to use the hot-air balloon above Party Plaza. While the balloon is active, the L and R buttons normally switch between available modes. Instead, move the left control stick to take control of the camera. This lets you look across the islands and zoom in on hidden character locations.

The character unlock process is designed to reward observation. If a character does not appear immediately, adjust the camera angle and zoom level instead of leaving Party Plaza. The islands can be easy to overlook when the camera remains focused on the main buildings.

There are seven boards in Super Mario Party Jamboree. Four are available when you begin, while Western Land, Mario’s Rainbow Castle, and King Bowser’s Keep are tied to Player Rank. Player Rank increases through the Jamboree Rewards track after you complete Achievements.

Achievements are tracked in the Data House at Party Plaza. You do not need to complete every objective. The board requirements are based on total Achievement milestones, so you can choose tasks that match the modes you already enjoy.

The most efficient general target is 30 Achievements, because Platinum Rank opens all three locked boards and also adds Boss Rush. Jamboree contains 116 Achievements across its modes, giving you plenty of alternatives if one challenge does not fit your playstyle.

A practical route is to combine first-time mode exploration with easy minigame milestones. Simply trying new activities can provide several Achievements, while score-based minigame goals can quickly fill the remaining gap.

The following route prioritizes variety first and repeatable minigame goals second. It is useful when your main objective is reaching Platinum Rank to unlock King Bowser’s Keep. You can replace any minigame with another Achievement if a particular challenge feels inconvenient.

Several minigame objectives are especially useful because they rely on a clear time, score, or survival target. The exact challenge may favor different skills, so rotate between speed, button input, aiming, and endurance tasks.

The most important progression checkpoint is Platinum Rank. Silver and Gold provide useful additions along the way, but Platinum is the point where every locked board listed in the progression track has been opened. Diamond Rank is optional unless you want the staff credits unlock.

Pro Rules become available after you complete one Mario Party game on any board. The game can use any board and any turn count, so you do not need to finish a long session to access the ruleset. Once unlocked, Pro Rules provide a more structured Mario Party experience with several luck-focused elements reduced or changed.

Unlocking Pro Rules also enables Vote for Minigames in standard Party Rules. This gives players more influence over which minigame appears instead of relying entirely on the normal selection process.

Party Plaza also contains several non-board unlock systems. After progressing beyond the introduction to Party-Planner Trek, speak with Kamek to begin decorating the plaza. Decoration Items come from requests and minigame challenges within Party-Planner Trek.

There are 62 Decoration Items distributed across categories such as ornaments, flags and garlands, fountains, big items, boss topiaries, tile art, balloons, stakes, and extras. These rewards are separate from the character unlocks and Player Rank board progression.

Not every unlockable is a character, board, or mode. Three Party Plaza stands offer smaller customization rewards. These include reactions for board sessions, stickers and card designs for online presentation, and music or sounds for the music player.

Mario Party Points are used at these shops. You earn points by playing, with stronger performance and online play providing opportunities to collect more. The shops are therefore a useful place to spend points after you have recruited the two hidden characters and started progressing through Achievements.
